Obituary: Easley, Edward Donald

Age 55

EASLEY, Edward Donald (Age 55) Passed away surrounded by his family on December, 29, 2012.

Ed was born May 26, 1957 in Spokane, Washington to Robert L. and Evelyn R. Easley.

Ed was a graduate of A.C. Davis High School, Yakima WA.

class of 1975.

Following graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and served a total of 6 years as a Photo Journalist.

He was a reporter and writer for the Stars and Stripes Europe and was awarded the Keith L. Ware award in 1978, numerous other journalism awards and was nominated for a Pulitzer.

Military citations include Marksman, Good Conduct, Army Commendation medal, Army service and oversea service ribbons.

Following his military service Ed continued his education at Yakima Valley Community College and graduated with an Associate of Arts Degree in 1984 then Central Washington University with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in 1985.

Ed held several positions as writer, photographer and editor for various magazines and newspapers.

He wrote several books including “A Matter of Tastes” published in 2004, “Crimes Against Commerce” published in 2006.

Photography, poetry and writing was his first love and listening to the Rolling Stones and McCartney.

Ed had a good sense of humor and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his Daughter, Kristina Batick of North Haven, CT, Jonathan Marocchini of Wallingford, CT, James Marocchini of Boston, MA, and two grandchildren Justin and Juliette Batick, mother; Evelyn Easley of Spokane, Father; Robert L. Easley of Spokane, Sister, Katherine Darrah of Naches, Brothers; Tom Easley of Redmond, Bill Easley of Spokane and Daniel Easley of Poulsbo, WA.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Veterans Administration, A private memorial service will be held with Ed’s immediate family on Saturday, January 5th at 2 PM.
