Obituary: Pfarr, Barbara (Everette)
Age 91
Barb was born to Johnston Ritchie and Grace Freiday Everett on June 10, 1921 in Bellingham, WA.
Barb graduated from high school in Okanogan and then attended WSU.
Barb married the love of her life Philip Pfarr in 1941.
They eventually settled in Spokane in 1945 to raise their family and start what would become “The Animal Clinic of Spokane” on Wall and Francis.
Barb was a devoted to family and community.
She was active with ARC and was a past president of the organization.
She believed in what they do to support children, families, and adults with disabilities.
Barb was also a founding member of St. David’s Episcopal Church in Spokane.
Barb and Phil were life members of Spokane`s Civic Theater.
Barb was also a “Lady Lions” member of the Lions Club.
Barb was a lover of dogs, especially poodles.
She always seemed to have one by her side or on her lap.
She took great pleasure in teaching them special tricks and demonstrating their abilities to her grandchildren.
The kids would always laugh at the dogs antics.
Gus, George, Pete, Purl, Valentine and Fudge were just a few of her constant companions.
Barb and Phil were enthusiastic about sharing their love of the outdoors with family and friends at their cabin at Indian Creek on Priest Lake.
This is where the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends were awakened in the morning with the shout of “Hump-Ti-Dity”, which meant it was time to go fishing, huckleberry picking, or it was just time to get into the truck and head to the hills.
There was always an adventure waiting family and friends.
Many Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays were attended by family who dared to brave the cold.
Barb would always come up with a truly spectacular holiday meal even with no power and -20 degree temps outside.
Barb and Phil enjoyed traveling, whether the trip was to Maui or some far off destination like Africa, Australia, Panama or China.
Both loved exploration and adventure, and to share these experiences with others.
Barb was preceded in death by her husband Phil, sister Mary Grace Truax, and brother Richard Everett.
Barb is survived by sons Jeff Pfarr, Mike (Patti) Pfarr, and daughter Mary Meg (Gary) Van Antwerp.
Barb has seven loving grandchildren and nine amazing great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to ARC of Spokane, St. David`s Church, or Hospice of Spokane.
A private family memorial will be held at a future date.
