Obituary: Volk, Stephen James

Age 69

VOLK, Stephen James You know a man by his character and Steve’s character was honed and refined under the tender hands of Jesus Christ.

Steve passed away peacefully on January 2, 2013, and is survived by his wife Patricia; his three children Anna Marie and her husband Robert, Nick and his wife Colleen, Peter and his wife Tanya; six grandchildren Tyler, Jacob, Madeleine, Nathan, Cooper, Courtney; and his brother Michael and sister Jane.

Steve was born in Spokane, WA on November 24, 1943, where he accumulated thrilling adventures growing up that kept his kids and grandkids in stitches as he retold the stories.

He graduated from Gonzaga Prep High School in 1962 and went on to earn a business degree from the University of Washington.

His life was exemplified by his desire for adventure and love of toys.

He also loved flowers.

A kid at heart, Steve was thrilled by trails with no end and sunny days flying model airplanes or even piloting his own glider high above the bustle of the earth where he found a God centered peace and great joy.

His journey has now found its ultimate destination with Jesus Christ and we’re confident the Lord has already provided him with his next great adventure.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, January 4th at Immaculate Heath Retreat Center located at 6910 South Ben Burr Road, Spokane, WA 99223 at 1:00 p.m.

Please visit Steve’s online memorial at www.hennesseyfuneralhomes.com, and leave a message of condolence.
