Benzel, Saxons top CDA
Cody Benzel made 14 of 17 free throws and finished with 24 points to guide Ferris past Coeur d’Alene 51-44 in a nonleague boys basketball game Saturday night in Coeur d’Alene.
The Saxons (7-2) connected on 19 of 26 free-throw attempts while the Vikings (7-3) made 2 of 6. Tony Nacarrato scored 11 points and Ryan Walde added 10 for Coeur d’Alene, which has now lost two straight after opening the season 7-1.
Inglemoor 62, Post Falls 52: The Vikings built a comfortable first-half lead and cruised past the Trojans (5-6) in Kenmore, Wash. Corey Koski scored 14 points and Dalton Thompson had 11 for Post Falls, but the Trojans couldn’t recover after falling behind by 20 points at halftime.
Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 67, Royal City 46: The Broncos (10-2) made 13 3-pointers and cruised to a win at Royal City. Dylan Hartz led five Lind-Ritzville/Sprague players in double figures with 15 points.
Great Northern
East Valley 50, Deer Park 45: James Brown scored 15 points and the Knights (6-4, 2-0) opened the fourth quarter on an 11-0 run and edged the host Stags (4-6, 0-2). J.T. Phelan added 12 points and 11 rebounds for East Valley. The Stags were led by Nathanel Guske’s 19 points.
Pullman 64, Cheney 50: Race Martin scored 20 points and Corey Langerveld had 18 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and four blocks to lead the Greyhounds (10-1, 2-0) past the visiting Blackhawks (5-4, 1-1). H.D. Wyborney led four Cheney players in double figures with 13 points.
Clarkston 60, Colville 47: Trevor Sperry scored 14 points and the Bantams (6-3, 1-1) erupted for 27 third-quarter points in a win over the visiting Indians (4-5, 0-1). Tevyn Holling scored 14 points and Jay Shoemaker and Matt Hubbard added 10 apiece for Colville.

Timberlake 63, Priest River 55: Johnny Hayden and Keegan Scott combined for 33 points and the Tigers (8-2, 2-0) hit their free throws late in a win over the host Spartans (5-6, 0-1). Timberlake connected on 13 of 19 from the line in the fourth to hold off Priest River’s late charge.

Chewelah 63, Freeman 45: Derek Smith had 20 points, nine rebounds and five steals and the Cougars (8-3, 4-0) beat the visiting Scotties (1-10, 1-3). Ben Johnstone added 14 points for Chewelah, which led by 14 points at the half. Jacob Phipps tallied a team-high 14 points for Freeman.
Medical Lake 40, Lakeside 36: Adam Paulson scored 14 points and Michael Wichester added 12 as the Cardinals (8-4, 5-0) held on to beat the visiting Eagles (3-9, 2-2).
Newport 53, Riverside 40: The Grizzlies (5-7, 2-3) overcame a slow start with a dominating fourth-quarter rally in a win over the visiting Rams (2-9, 0-4). Jeron Konkright made 9 of 10 free throws and finished with 31 points for Newport, which outscored Riverside 22-9 in the final quarter to break a 40-all tie to start the quarter.

Lakeside 52, Wallace 46: Leighton Boyd scored 15 points and Sequoia Gallegos and Doug Schatz added 10 apiece as the Knights (4-7, 1-0) edged the host Miners (4-4, 0-1). Gavin Rasmussen and Brock Arthun combined for 32 points for Wallace.

Inchelium 63, Columbia 41: Quentin Holford led three players in double figures with 20 points as the Hornets (1-6, 1-4) opened the game on a 21-4 run and cruised past the visiting Lions (0-11, 0-6). Thomas Cohen had 18 points and Sam LeaderCharge added 13 points, 10 rebounds and four steals for Inchelium. Joe Schwartz led Columbia with 14 points.
Selkirk 49, Republic 28: Avery Miller scored 21 points and Shawn Mailly added 10 as the Rangers (7-3, 4-1) beat the host Tigers (6-4, 3-2).
Cusick 73, Curlew 23: Alec Bluff scored 14 points as the Panthers (11-2, 7-0) dominated from the get-go in a rout over the visiting Cougars (4-7, 2-4). Ryan Sample scored 12 points, Derrick Bluff had 11 and Quinton Montgomery added 10 for Cusick, which led by 27 points at halftime. Dalton Drennan tallied a team-high 11 points for Curlew.

Odessa-Harrington 53, Valley Christian 43: Justin Hunt scored 22 points and Cade Weber added 10 as the Titans (8-4, 2-0) beat the host Panthers (4-6, 0-2). Boe Piersol and Nick Cox led Valley Christian with a combined 34 points.
Wilbur-Creston 53, St. Michael’s 46: Garet Townsend scored 14 points and the Wildcats (7-4, 2-0) held on to beat the host Warriors (1-9, 0-2). Gabe Duraza tallied a game-high 28 points for St. Michael’s.

Touchet 57, Tekoa-Oakesdale 33: The Indians (2-5, 2-5) overwhelmed the host Nighthawks (1-9, 0-7) through the first three quarters and cruised to the win. Max Mueller paced Tekoa-Oakesdale with 14 points.
Pomeroy 51, Rosalia 48: The Pirates (8-2, 5-2) built a comfortable first-half lead and held on late to beat the visiting Spartans (5-6, 3-4). Rosalia was led by Craig Nelson’s 24 points.
LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 53, Garfield-Palouse 39: Darcy Stamper scored 20 points and Austin Summers added 11 as the Tigercats (11-0, 7-0) beat the visiting Vikings (8-3, 5-2). Jesse Lopez and Matt Holbrook combined for 23 points for Garfield-Palouse.
