Authorities seek help identifying theft suspect
Spokane Valley property crimes detectives are seeking assistance identifying a man suspected of identity theft.
On Aug. 1 and Aug. 2, the man purchased merchandise worth thousands of dollars from two Ace Hardware stores using checks stolen from vehicles, according to Spokane County sheriff’s spokesman Deputy Craig Chamberlin.
He also was using identification he stole from a locker at Spokane Community College and was driving a stolen Toyota 4-Runner that has since been recovered, Chamberlin said. Other stolen checks were cashed at several Zip Trip stores and Home Depot.

Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest is offering a reward for information leading to his identification.
