Age 64
BAUCOM, Wallace Raymond (Age 64) Passed away on December 27, 2012 at the Community Living Center at the VA Medical Center in Spokane, WA where he resided. Wally was born in Lynchburg, VA, the eldest son of Francis Raymond Baucom, Military Retiree, and Ellen Burford Overstreet. He was an Air Force “Brat” and spent his childhood in Virginia, Texas, Hawaii, North Dakota, and Arizona. He was living in Hawaii when it was admitted to the Union in 1959. BAUCOM, Wallace Raymond (Age 64) Passed away on December 27, 2012 at the Community Living Center at the VA Medical Center in Spokane, WA where he resided. Wally was born in Lynchburg, VA, the eldest son of Francis Raymond Baucom, Military Retiree, and Ellen Burford Overstreet. He was an Air Force “Brat” and spent his childhood in Virginia, Texas, Hawaii, North Dakota, and Arizona. He was living in Hawaii when it was admitted to the Union in 1959. He graduated from Chandler High School in 1966 in AZ, immediately joining the Air Force where he worked as an Air Flagman, and Airplane Mechanic. He was stationed in Korea during Vietnam, and was Honorably Discharged in 1972. He resided in several states including California and Michigan before settling down in Washington State. In pursuit of a higher education he attended San Francisco State (CA), Phoenix Community College (AZ), Yakima Jr. College (WA), and Bellevue Community College (WA). On August 9, 1980 he married J. Helen Chavarria, and settled down in Colville, WA. He lived his passion; that of a freelance writer. He also enjoyed philosophical discussions, spoke Spanish, genealogy, gardening, photography, loved music and always listened to the Classic Rock station, watching sports, the History Channel, Westerns, and his pet llamas, rabbits, ferrets, and cats. He also enjoyed traveling to such places as Canada, and Central America. He was also a lifetime member of the DAV. He left us with his philosophy “perseverance is the key to life …”, and to all who knew him, he will be greatly missed. Devoted husband to his wife J. Helen (Colville); loving brother to Ruth (Gerald) Hill of El Paso, TX, and to Chuck (Kathy) Baucom, and his son Charlie of Chandler, AZ; his nephew Jubal Lee Hill of El Paso, TX, and his two beloved nieces: Poppy Davis of Seattle, WA, and Katie (Dave) Nelson and their daughter Caitlin of Anniston, Alabama. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial Services will be held on Thursday, January 10, 2013, at 2 P.M. at the Veterans Administration Medical Center (Basement Main Building), 4815 N. Assembly St., Spokane, WA 99205, at the Community Living Center Dining Room Facility. Funeral Services will be held at Washington State Veterans Cemetery, 21702 W. Espanola Rd., Medical Lake, WA 99022 on Friday, January 11, 2013, at 1:30 P.M.
