Obituary: Carstens, David Lee

CARSTENS, David Lee 1952 - 2012 David Lee Carstens born March 6, 1952 in Coeur d’Alene Idaho, to Delbert and Kathleen Carstens.

He died December 23, 2012 of cancer.

Dave grew up on the family dairy farm in Greenacres,Washington and learned to milk cows, drive tractor and do almost every job on the farm.

He graduated from Central Valley High School in 1970 and attended Evergreen State College.

He was an avid reader and had a great curiosity about how things worked.

He was truly a “Tool-Time” kind of guy and could fix or build almost anything.

He worked for Hewlett Packard, Agilent, Spraycool, Shamrock Paving and other jobs mainly with computers or electronics.

David loved the outdoors and enjoyed downhill and cross country skiing, swimming, biking, hiking, organic gardening and scuba diving.

He served on the Spokane County Sheriff’s search and rescue dive team for a few years.

He had a great sense of humor and was a wonderful storyteller.

Dave was preceded in death by his father, Delbert.

Dave is survived by his daughter, Annie Strandberg; grandchildren, Willow, Waylon and Faith Sullivan; his mother, Kathleen; brother; Stephen; sisters, Linda (Leslie) Rose and Jennifer Carstens; extended family and many close friends including Carol McAdams.

Memorial service will be held in the spring.

He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother and friend to many.

We will miss him.
