Obituary: Douglas, Betty Lou

Age 82

DOUGLAS, Betty Lou (Age 82) Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grand-mother and sister, Betty Lou Douglas of Pinehurst, Idaho, passed away January 9, 2013 at the Shoshone Medical Center of Kellogg.

She was born March 7, 1930 at Lamona, Washington; Betty was the daughter of John and Harriet (Scott) Schwartz.

Betty attended and graduated from the Odessa High School of Odessa, WA in 1948.

She married Robert W. Douglas, Sr. on November 26, 1948 at Yakima, WA; Bob passed away on February 10, 2012.

Betty and Bob moved to the Silver Valley in 1952 from Odessa, WA.

They founded and were owners and operators of the Kellogg Moving and Storage of Kellogg, Idaho; Betty and Bob retired in 1989 and started their retirement years by spending their winters in Arizona, which they loved and enjoyed.

Their sons Terry and Bobby Douglas, continued with ownership and operation of the family business.

Bobby passed away and today, Terry continues to own and operate this business.

Betty was a member of the Mountain View Congregational Church of Kellogg.

She loved and enjoyed her family, ceramics, crafts including scrap booking, reading, shopping on QVC and traveling to Arizona in the winters.

Betty is survived by three children Kathy (Jim) Apthorp of Surprise, Arizona, Terry Douglas (Karla) of Kellogg, Idaho and Rick Douglas of Spokane, Washington; four grandchildren Marti (Ethan) Kast, Tiffney (Dustin) Hojem, Jennilee (Justin) Mellen and Derrick Douglas; five great-grandchildren Joslyn Hojem, Macy Hojem, Liberty Kast, Toby Kast and Russell Kast; one brother Alvin “Scotty” (Erika) Schwartz of Spokane, WA; she is also survived by one niece and one nephew.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bob, one son Bobby Douglas, Jr., one grandson Danny Day and one brother Larry Schwartz.

Cremation was held and Memorial Services will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at 11:00 A.M. at the Mountain View Congregational Church of Kellogg (formerly the United Church of Kellogg).

A reception for family and friends will be held at the Church Fellowship Hall following services.

Inurnment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery of Kellogg.

The family suggests that memorials may be made to the Shoshone Humane Society, P.O.
