Obituary: Ellis, Peggysue Theis

Age 85

ELLIS, Peggysue Theis Peggysue passed away on January 10, 2013 while in the company of her family.

She was born to Richard and Loretta Theis in Portland, Oregon on September 17th, 1927.

She grew up in Spokane WA where she enjoyed ice skating with her father as a small girl.

Peggysue graduated from Lewis and Clark High School and Washington State University spending her lifetime full of crimson pride.

While at WSU she was a proud member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority graduating with a degree in Sociology.

During her junior year at WSU, she met her husband Mel.

They were married following college and blessed with two children, a daughter Kathi and a son Rick.

Peggysue spent a good portion of her career working in the relocation department with James S. Black Co.

Upon retirement, she spent her time volunteering for many organizations throughout Spokane including St. Anne’s Children’s Home, South Hill Senior Center, Northwest Museum of Art’s and Culture plus served on many committees at the Rockwood Retirement Communities.

She was very passionate about the Rockwood Resident Assistance Fund and donated her beloved Cadillac with “buttery soft leather seats” to help assist others.

Peggysue was preceded in death by her husband Mel C. Ellis.

She is survived by her daughter Kathi Walters (Scott), her son Rick Ellis (Pattie) and five grandchildren Casey, Angela, Jeannie, Jessica and Eric.

She has seven great-grandchildren with her eighth due in June.

Donations in her memory may be made to Rockwood Resident Assistance Fund or Hospice of Spokane.

A memorial service will be held at Rockwood South Hill in the lounge of the main building at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 17th 2013.
