Obituary: Graybeal, Delbert Byron

Age 82

GRAYBEAL, Delbert Byron (Age 82) Delbert Byron Graybeal passed away on January 10, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family.

He was born on December 29, 1930, to John Obert Graybeal and Pauline Gertrude Graybeal in Delta, Colorado and was the first born of six children.

His childhood was spent working with his family on various farms in Colorado and Washington.

He graduated from Curlew High School in Curlew, Washington and married Barbara Lee Carlson in 1950.

They were sweethearts for over 65 years.

There were five children born to them, including Mark, Brent, Sandy, Debbie and Jeff.

Delbert and Barbara began their life together in Omak, Washington and moved to the Spokane area in 1952.

His love was for farming and animals, but he provided for his family in the carpentry and constructions trades.

Del was a successful businessman having ownership and involvement in Lilac City Quality Drywall, City Drywall, Sentry Construction and Graybeal Construction.

He was president of the Home Builders Association of Spokane in 1980, and retired from the construction industry in 1995.

Del was preceded in death by his parents, John and Pauline Graybeal, and sisters Jewel Honer and Delphine Curt.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Graybeal, siblings Bernice (Darrel) Nichols, Clayton (Myrna) Graybeal, F. Mae Graybeal, children Mark and Barb Graybeal of Alabama, Brent and Laurie Graybeal of Florida, Sandy Graybeal Davis of Issaquah, Debbie and Jerry Thompson of Deer Park, and Jeff Graybeal (Shelly) of Spokane, grandchildren Seth Graybeal (Debra), Adam Graybeal, Matthew Graybeal, Erica Ayube (Alex), Taryn Graybeal, Daniel Graybeal, Nathan Graybeal, Tyson Davis (Shannon), Joshua Davis (Nikki), Brad Thompson (Kendall), Kari Villarreal (Mark), Krista Dykes (James) and Natalie Thompson, seven great-grandchildren, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

A memorial Service will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 8441 N. Indian Trail Rd.
