Obituary: Nast, Doris

Age 90

NAST, Doris (Age 90) Born in Montana, April 3, 1922, departed this life December 17, 2012.

Doris was raised by relatives since her mother died when she was a baby.

She came to Spokane during WWII and lived here the rest of her life.

Doris was baptised by Father Charles Suver, S.J.

of St. Aloysius Parish in the early 1960’s and her best friends and sponsors were Mike and Yvonne Fitzpatrick, now deceased.

In the late 1960’s Doris was active as an assistant troop leader at Four Echoes Camp, Girl Scouts of America (336 and 338), sponsored by St. Aloysius School.

Later in life Doris, with the YWCA’s encouragement for around thirty years, crocheted hundreds of blankets for babies and people in wheelchairs.

Doris is survived by her sons David (Minnesota), Clyde (Montana) and Gordon and John of Spokane.

Son Dennis, a U.S. Army Ranger, preceded her in death.

A memorial Mass will be held at 8 a.m. Wednesday, January 16, 2013, St. Aloysius Church.

Cremation was by Hennessey Smith Funeral Home and Crematory.
