Obituary: Skredsvig, Robert “Bud”
Our beloved father, grandfather and uncle was born October 19, 1922 in Donnybrook, ND.
A middle child, dad spent his childhood helping his widowed mom with daily life, honing skills that would make him self-sufficient.
Mechanical by nature, dad quickly became a handyman and auto mechanic.
After attending school, dad joined the Navy.
His working career started when he became partners in a trucking company, hauling produce throughout the Western United States.
His travels exposed him to the Northwest and he loved the area.
He joined Pierone Produce Company in 1948, as a driver and the cute redhead bookkeeper, Jean, caught his eye.
The Pierone’s spotted cupid at work and assisted a very shy Bud through courtship and ultimate marriage to Jean.
A loyal and devoted employee, dad worked with the Pierone family until his retirement as Sales Manager in 1988.
Married 59 years, mom and dad raised their girls, instilling a strong work ethic, physical activity and family values.
He worked hard but always had time for his girls.
His “bear trap” and “the claw” couldn’t be matched.
Dad enjoyed hunting, camping and jeeping in his Willys.
Mom and dad were bowlers and became beautiful ballroom dancers, sharing a love for music.
Dad enjoyed mixing tapes for the dance club.
In retirement, dad and mom enjoyed taking the family to Maui and spending time at the family cabin on Hayden Lake.
The cabin suited dad to a tee, with unlimited puttering opportunities.
Spending time with family was always a priority.
The true essence of dad was his generous nature, humor and soft heart.
He couldn’t pass up someone in need.
Opportunities to use his winch or to hook up his snow plow, made a great Bud day!
He never expected his favors to be returned but in later years, his neighbors did exactly that.
They have watched over dad and we thank you all.

Dad will be deeply missed by children Linda Devlin (Greg) and Susan Madsen (Terry); grandchildren Julie Shogan (Chris), Jeff Devlin, and sister Carole Scheltens.
Granddogs Gabby and Izzy provided dad with many smiles.
He also leaves behind Dan Ruddell, Don Gorle (Dianne) and Carol Poole (Ken).
Numerous nephews and nieces will greatly miss their uncle (maybe it was the bear trap?).
Dad was preceded in death by his devoted wife Jean, father Alfred Skredsvig, mother and stepfather Helen and William Wheeler, sister Donna Wolfe and sister-in-law Joann Ruddell.
A celebration of life will be planned for friends and family at a later date.
