The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory for Monday when 1 to 3 inches of snow could fall across the Inland Northwest. A low of 12 degrees is expected tonight. Warming centers for homeless persons are going to be open tonight, Spokane city officials said. Snowfall is expected to begin near the Canadian border before dawn and then spread southward through the morning. However, there is some doubt. The forecast gives a 60 percent chance of snow from an impulse moving south along the eastern side of a high pressure system. Storms moving from that direction typically contain colder and drier air. If the weather disturbance produces snow, the most significant accumulation will be from mid-morning to mid-afternoon, forecasters said. The winter weather advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. and includes all of North Idaho and extreme Eastern Washington Coeur d’Alene could see up to 3 inches of snow while Spokane could get up to 2 inches. Warming centers are located at First Covenant Church, 212 S. Division St., for single adult men; The Salvation Army, 222 E. Indiana Ave., for families with children and for couples; and Hope House, 111 W. Third Ave., for single women.
