Late free throws beat Cougars

LOS ANGELES – Southern California’s Ariya Crook was fouled while chasing a loose ball and sank two free throws with .8 seconds remaining Sunday to lift USC to a 61-59 Pac-12 women’s basketball victory over Washington State.

Cassie Harberts scored 18 points and had 10 rebounds for the Trojans (7-8, 4-0 Pac-12). Crook had 14 points, nine rebounds and six assists.

Sophomore guard Tia Presley scored a game-high 25 points and freshman guard Lia Galdeira added 14 for the Cougars (5-10, 1-3 Pac-12), who led 32-28 at halftime.

Sage Romberg and Ireti Amojo led WSU with six rebounds apiece.

(14) UCLA 85, Washington 68: Jasmine Dixon tied her season high with 13 points and also pulled down 11 rebounds for her first double-double of the season, and the Bruins overcame a turnover-plagued first half to post their sixth straight victory.

Jazmine Davis scored a game-high 19 points to lead the Huskies (10-5, 2-2). Talia Walton added 18. It’s the first time Washington has lost consecutive games this season.

UCLA (13-2, 4-0 Pac-12) had five players in double figures scoring, led by Atonye Nyingifa with 17 points.
