Obituary: Meier, Wayne Byron

Age 79

MEIER, Wayne Byron Beloved father, brother and husband.

Wayne passed away peacefully on January 12, 2013 at the VA Hospice unit.

He was born to Melge Sr. and Emma Meier in Breese, Illinois on December 31, 1933.

Wayne graduated from High School as Valedictorian in his class.

He enlisted in the Army and served in Korea from 1954-1956.

Then was in the reserve from 1956-1962.

He graduated from Southern Illinois University, Carbondale, and after graduation started his first Forestry job in Deer Lodge, Montana where he met his wife Nancy on a blind date.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Nancy, his sister Elena, and brother Glen.

He is survived by his two children Craig (Laurie) and Eric (Shelley); his brother Melge (Pat), brother Marvin (Beth), brother Dennis (Sheila); sister Mabel Emma (Frank), and sister Lucy Suchy (Tom) and; three grandchildren Sierra, Stormy (Craig) and Alexander (Eric).

He was a lifetime forester and loved to cut firewood.

When he retired, his wife Nancy and himself went on lots of road trips across Idaho, Oregon and Montana to fish and rock hound.

Rest in peace!

You and mom are now eternally together.

A special thanks to the staff at the Veterans Hospital, and for the excellent care that dad received the last two weeks of his life.

A Memorial service will be held Friday, January 18, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the VA Hospital Chapel at 4815 North Assembly Street in Spokane, Washington 99205.

There will be a Potluck reception to follow at Audubon Park Masonic Lodge #272, 2821 West Northwest Blvd., Spokane, WA 99209 The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made in Wayne’s memory to the Veterans Hospital Hospice Unit or the Providence Day Care.
