M’s reacquire Morse

The Mariners have reacquired outfielder Mike Morse from the Washington Nationals in a three-way deal that sends catcher John Jaso to Oakland, the team announced Wednesday. “We set out this winter to add offense to our club,” general manager Jack Zduriencik said in a statement. “We wanted to add additional right-handed power and Mike is a major step in that direction.” Morse, who turns 31 on March 22, hit 18 home runs with 62 RBIs in 102 games with the Nationals last season. Morse broke into the major leagues with the Mariners from 2005 through 2008. He can also play first base. As part of the deal, Oakland is reportedly sending pitching prospect A.J. Cole to the Nationals.
