Pirates women prevail

K.C. McConnell had 14 points and six rebounds as Whitworth beat visiting Willamette (0-15, 0-6) 69-50 in Northwest Conference women’s basketball Friday.

The Pirates (11-5, 4-3) took advantage of 21 Bearcats turnovers while only committing eight turnovers.

Jo Johnston had 12 points and 14 rebounds – five coming on the offensive end – for Willamette.

• Rylie Hoslinger (North Central) had 23 points and 10 rebounds as Community Colleges of Spokane dumped Treasure Valley 78-40 in an NWAACC game at Spokane Falls Community College.

Breeana Wilson added 17 points, seven rebounds and five assists for the Sasquatch.

Men’s basketball

John Fletcher scored 29 points and Treasure Valley rallied in the second half and edged Community Colleges of Spokane 90-89 in an NWAACC game at Spokane Falls Community College.

Eric Holbrook scored 25 points and Brady Bagby added 24 for the Sasquatch, who relinquished a 13-point halftime advantage thanks in part to 2-of-15 3-point shooting in the second half.

Wrestling

North Idaho won seven of 10 matches – two by forfeit – and beat Southwestern Oregon 32-12 in Coos Bay, Ore.

NIC’s Kyle Sweedman had the only pin, taking down Simon Esparaza in 1 minute, 26 seconds at 174 pounds.
