Vikings rally to knock off Lewiston

Coeur d’Alene (15-3, 4-1) rallied in the second half to erase a seven-point halftime deficit and beat Lewiston (13-4, 2-2) – the two-time defending State 5A champion – 45-37 Friday night in an Inland Empire League 5A girls basketball game at Coeur d’Alene.

The win was Coeur d’Alene’s ninth straight after a 43-41 loss at Lewiston on Dec. 11.

Pullman 48, Colville 43: Dakota Wickard scored 20 points and Emily Drake added 14 as the Greyhounds (9-5, 5-1) built a comfortable lead and then held on late in a win over the host Indians (7-7, 3-3). Pullman led 39-27 after three quarters then withstood Colville’s fourth-quarter rally. Taryn Main scored 13 points for the Indians.

Cheney 66, Clarkston 62: Chae Brown scored 26 points and Coreen Labish added 19 as the Blackhawks (4-8, 2-4) beat the host Bantams (3-11, 1-5). Cheney outscored Clarkston 38-30 in the second half to erase a four-point halftime deficit.

West Valley 61, Deer Park 19: Cassie Finn and Erin Higbie combined for 23 points as the Eagles (10-4, 6-0) dumped the visiting Stags (0-14, 0-6). West Valley outscored Deer Park 21-6 in the first quarter and led 32-13 at half.

Northeast A

Freeman 48, Newport 37: Molly McIntyre and Alisha Sorensen scored 14 points apiece and the Scotties (15-0, 7-0) held off a late charge by the second-place Grizzlies (10-6, 6-3) in Newport. The Grizzlies came within five points with 3:30 left in the game, but could not come any closer. Sydney Siemsen led Newport with 10 points.

Riverside 50, Chewelah 41: Courtney Davis had 19 points and seven steals and Miranda LaJiness added a season-high 15 points to guide the Rams (8-7, 4-4) past the visiting Cougars (5-10, 2-6). Marisa Pace added 12 points and 13 rebounds for Riverside, which built a nine-point halftime lead. Katelyn Garner scored a team-high 10 points for Chewelah.

Kettle Falls 38, Medical Lake 35: Josie Stanard scored 12 points and the Bulldogs (6-9, 2-6) held on late to edge the host Cardinals (6-9, 2-6). Darby Evans scored nine points and Sabrina Earle pulled down nine rebounds for Medical Lake.

Northeast 2B

Springdale 52, Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 31: Taylor Smith scored 16 points and the Chargers (8-9, 4-7) pulled away late in a win over the visiting Broncos (6-11, 3-8). Springdale outscored Lind-Ritzville/Sprague 20-6 in the fourth quarter to halt the Broncos’ comeback attempt.

Davenport 43, Liberty 38: Chrissy Hannemann scored 17 points and the Gorillas (4-13, 2-9) edged the visiting Lancers (2-15, 0-11). Maggie Nelson had 11 points for Liberty, which saw its second-half rally fall short.

Reardan 62, St. George’s 32: Kelsey Moos scored 18 points and Tori Wynecoop added 17 as the Indians (16-1, 11-0) routed the host Dragons (8-9, 6-5). Alex Wert had nine points and eight rebounds for St. George’s.

Colfax 45, Northwest Christian 44: Amelie Bruya scored 14 points and Taylor Larsen added 10 and the Bulldogs (14-3, 10-2) overcame a large first-quarter deficit to edge the visiting Crusaders (13-3, 8-3). Northwest Christian opened the game on a 17-2 run, but slowly let Colfax back in it. Treasure Farmer scored a game-high 18 points for Northwest Christian, which couldn’t get a potential game-winning shot off as time expired.

Northeast 1B North

Curlew 57, Northport 42: Lindsey Gibson made 4 of 5 3-pointers and finished with a game-high 21 points to guide the Cougars (5-8, 3-5) past the host Mustangs (2-12, 0-9). Marissa Gilmore had 16 points and Kassie Guglielmino added 10 points, 10 assists, eight rebounds and eight steals for Northport.

Republic 58, Inchelium 50: Brianna Brown and Sierra McQuay combined for 23 points as the Tigers (11-4, 6-2) stormed back in the second half and beat the visiting Hornets (4-7, 3-6). Republic outscored Inchelium 32-17 in the second half to erase a seven-point halftime deficit. The Hornets were led by Javahni Andrews’ game-high 21 points.

Columbia 56, Selkirk 45: The Lions (10-6, 7-2) pulled away in the fourth quarter and beat the host Rangers (5-8, 3-6).

Northeast 1B South

Almira/Coulee-Hartline 54, Wilbur-Creston 50: Karlee Martin connected on 12 of 16 shots and finished with 32 points and eight rebounds as the host Warriors (11-5, 6-0) came from behind to beat the second-place Wildcats (12-4, 4-2). ACH was down by 10 points in the third quarter but stormed back with three straight 3-pointers to take a one-point lead into the fourth.

St. Michael’s 35, Odessa-Harrington 29: The Warriors (3-12, 1-5) made their free throws down the stretch and beat the visiting Titans (4-12, 2-4). Becky Raynor scored a team-high 11 points for St. Michael’s.

Wellpinit 56, Valley Christian 44: Kyra Antone scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Redskins (8-8, 4-2) beat the host Panthers (1-12, 1-5). Lindy Riggan led Valley Christian with 23 points.

Southeast 1B

Touchet 61, Garfield-Palouse 41: Cierra Jo McKeown erupted for 27 points and the Indians (5-3, 5-3) topped the visiting Vikings (3-12, 3-8). Garfield-Palouse was led by Taylor Redman’s 17 points.

Colton 62, Tekoa-Oakesdale 26: Paige Vincent scored a game-high 14 points as the Wildcats (13-1, 10-0) defeated the visiting Nighthawks (12-3, 8-3).

Rosalia 44, LaCrosse-Washtucna/Kahlotus 13: Mackenzie Reddish scored 11 points and the Spartans (9-6, 6-5) went on a 14-0 second-quarter run and raced past the Tigercats (0-14, 0-10) in Washtucna. Hannah Sims and Rayna Charles added eight points apiece for Rosalia.

St. John-Endicott 49, Liberty Christian 42: Emily Jones scored 20 points and Gretchan Van Lith added 12 as the Eagles (12-2, 9-1) topped the host Patriots (3-7, 3-7).
