Obituary: Barker, Cecil Ray
BARKER, Cecil Ray Well Pop - Cheers!! You lived a good one, traveling all over the world, and living in exotic and exciting locations. You got to eat sushi and drink sake in Tokyo, fish for blue marlin in Bermuda, sample wines and cheeses in the Napa Valley of California, hunt caribou in Alaska, fly-fish in Montana, and snorkel the beautiful reefs of Hawaii. You grabbed the gold ring and dared to live more dreams than most men ever do. You raised three great kids that all loved their dad. You were a great provider, and always made sure we were taken care of, even when Uncle Sam had you working away from home. Your love for mom was as special as it gets, and although we rarely lived near any of our extended family, you and mom taught us good, solid family traditions and life-skills that have helped guide us through this journey. You had this uncanny way of making folks feel comfortable and at-ease, and welcome in your home. We all cherish the memories of sitting around the kitchen table or back yard when you and mom would thrill us with the beautiful music that you would make. We are going to miss you dad, but we know you are home with Ben, W.J., and mom, as well as all of your friends and family that have been waiting for you. You asked us to not mourn, but to celebrate your life by hoisting a shot of Old Crow in your memory, so here’s to you Pop - we love you, we’ll miss you, and we’ll see you soon!
