Obituary: Cloe, Lloyd “Bud” W. And Darlene

CLOE, Lloyd “Bud” W. and Darlene Mom and Dad, you gave it all you had and more.

You lived a long and fun-filled life with lots of family and lifelong friends who will greatly miss you.

Mom passed away January 19, 2013, at her home with her husband and three daughters by her side.

Dad followed her two days later on January 21, 2013.

Mom was born July 22, 1926, in Saco, Montana to Justus Edwin and Jessie Whitesitt Arnott.

She was the youngest of six children.

Dad was born November 13, 1924, in Malta, Montana to Lloyd Wilson and Olive Mae Giger Cloe.

He had one older sister.

They are survived by three daughters, Donna Rosen, Marian Carson, Lynn Herrington; four grandchildren, Jamie, Jodi, Amber, and Brian; five great-grandchildren and one in the oven; and several nieces and nephews.

Dad served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.

He was called to go on the Honor Flight to Washington, DC but was unable to go because of his illness.

Mom and Dad began their 67 years of marriage on May 3, 1945, and raised their family in Spokane.

Mom was a tried and true domestic engineer who worked hard and loved her family.

She was a great cook and seamstress and loved to have fun.

She enjoyed crafting, bowling with the Fire Belles, camping, snowmobiling, boating, summers at Diamond Lake, her flowers, and gardening.

Dad was a jack-of-all-trades who could fix anything from a toaster to rebuilding an engine to building a house.

There wasn’t anything he couldn’t do if he wanted to.

He was a firefighter for the City of Spokane for 25 years and always worked a second job so we could spend summers at Diamond Lake and enjoy many family activities.

After Dad retired from the Fire Department, they became snowbirds in California and Arizona for 29 years where they made many new friends from all over the country and Canada.

Mom, you survived more health problems than any one person should have to endure.

All because you were scared you would miss something.

And Dad, you surprised us all by being the greatest caregiver for Mom that we could have ever imagined.

Here’s to you, Mom!

You’re one tough old bird!

And Dad, you are our hero!

We love you and we will miss you, but we will always remember what you taught us.

Funeral services for Bud and Darlene will be held Friday, January 25, 2013, at 1 PM in the Alwin Chapel of Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St., Spokane.

Interment will follow at Greenwood Memorial Terrace, Spokane.
