Obituary: Tormino, Dorothy
Age 84
Dorothy D. Raugust was born on September 30th, 1928 to Lena and Gotthilf Raugust in Spangle, WA.
She had two brothers, Harvey and Calvin, and a sister, Leona.
Dorothy graduated from high school in Spangle.
She married John J. Tormino in 1951.
Together they had three children Nancy, John, and Patti who become Dorothy’s lifetime joy and passion.
Everyone who knew Dorothy was touched by her in a unique way, she seemed to be the glue that held things together and will be missed, loved, and remembered by everyone who was fortunate enough to know her.
Her quick wit, focus, and direct ways of communicating left people she interacted with an understanding that she was truly authentic, caring, and real.
She saw things that others missed and could understand intentions of others without being pretentious……she was the “real deal”.
Dorothy lived a diverse life filled with activities and relationships which were close to her heart.
Nothing defined Dorothy more than her relationships with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren as she loved and cared for each of them in a unique and special way.
Dorothy will forever live in their hearts.
She worked in the family business and kept things running behind the scenes with her relationships, knowledge, and legendary memory.
She was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing many different courses with her longtime companion Max Thompson, her ex-husband John, and close friends Jim and Nancy Benthin.
Dorothy also enjoyed gardening, working in her greenhouse, and creating a signature landscape around her home with the flowers and plants she loved most.
Dorothy also loved to spend time playing slots at the casino, reading, and attending shows, concerts, and playing in tournaments.
She had an understanding of managing money and enjoyed trading in the stock market with her close friend Norm Bergt.
The family wants to give a special thanks to Lilly and Ruby at the Northern Quest Casino who always looked after and cared for Dorothy and especially for the friendship and support of her close friend Linda Rankin.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her brother Harvey, companion Max, and her granddaughter Mitrah.
A service celebrating Dorothy’s life will be held at Hennesey’s Funeral Home on North Division on Sunday January 27th at 1:00pm.
