OSU tops UW for 1st Pac-12 win

From Wire Services

CORVALLIS, Ore. – Devon Collier had 16 points and Oregon State held off a second-half run by Washington for a 74-66 Pac-12 basketball win on Wednesday night.

Eric Moreland added 12 points and 10 rebounds off the bench for the Beavers (11-8, 1-5 Pac-12), who saw a 20-point first-half advantage shrink to one but never gave up the lead.

C.J. Wilcox had 23 points and seven rebounds and Aziz N’Diaye added 10 points and 10 rebounds for Washington (12-7, 4-2).

The Huskies fell behind by 10 points in the first 4 minutes and were down 20 four minutes before halftime before clawing back in the second half to close to a basket.

However, the Beavers had an answer for every rally and never surrendered the lead.

Washington failed to break the 70-point barrier for the eighth consecutive game and couldn’t keep pace with Oregon State, which also had a balanced attack.

After starting 4-0 in the Pac-12, Washington has lost two consecutive games before starting its toughest part of the schedule.

Ten of the Huskies’ remaining 12 regular-season games are against five opponents (No. 16 Oregon, No. 6 Arizona, Arizona State, UCLA and USC) that are in the top half of the conference.
