Obituary: Oliver, Howard Wayne

Age 60

OLIVER, Howard Wayne (Age 60) Passed away January 17, 2013 in Spokane, Washington He was born September 16, 1952 in Amarillo Texas.

Howard lived most of his life in Fountain CO and was a graduate of Fountain-Ft Carson High, class of 1973.

He volunteered and worked for 20 years in the Fountain Library.

Following his mother’s passing in 2001, he moved to Medical Lake WA to live with his surviving sister and her husband, Deb and Scott Chavez.

Howard was quite the survivor, when at the age of seven he survived encephalitis and a two month coma.

He also battled the complications of being a type I diabetic for the last 40 years.

He never asked for help, but was always there to help others with a smile.

The last five years he always looked forward to going to work at the Medical Lake Library where he adored Laura and all of his coworkers.

Howard passed away peacefully from a pulmonary embolism just a few days after hip surgery from a slip on ice January 3rd.

In addition to Deb and Scott, he is survived by his brother Harold Oliver of Clayton NM, nephews Brock and Sean Chavez, niece Hannah Chavez and two cousins Jainie Fain and Judy Blackburn.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Howard A. and Alice Oliver (Harder).

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be made to Howard’s church, St John’s Lutheran Church, 223 S. Hallett St, Medical Lake WA 99022.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 1, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Medical Lake.
