Obituary: Phelps, Madeline Ann (Stamper)

Age 90

PHELPS, Madeline Ann (Stamper) October 14, 1922 - January 23, 2013 Madeline was born in Lewiston ID and passed away in Spokane.

Her family moved to the Valley in 1932 where she graduated from West Valley High School.

A diligent worker, she was a secretary for 49 years; first as a federal employee and then for the City of Spokane.

In 1943, she married Richard Leon Phelps.

He passed away in 1954.

Her only son, Leon, died in 1980.

She enjoyed her family, telling stories, gardening, nature and her cats.

Survived by her grandson, Christopher Phelps (Jackie); great-grandchild Grace Noel; daughter-in-law, Carole Korff; niece, Sheila Leuer; nephew, Robert Stamper (Nancy); and, four great-nieces.

A Memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 30th, 11:00 a.m. at Pines Mausoleum, 1402 S. Pines Rd., Spokane Valley, WA 99206.

The family wishes to thank the staff at Colonial Court and Family Home Care and Hospice of Spokane for their kindness and loving care of Madeline.

She was a gentle soul.
