Obituary: Semler, Raymond Ellis

Age 91

SEMLER, Raymond Ellis (Age 90) Of Spokane, passed away on Sunday, December 23, 2012.

Ray was born to the late Joseph and Emma Semler, January 8, 1922.

He was married to the late Shirley Goodsell and the late Sally Orr.

Ray joined the Navy for five years during WWII.

During that time he sailed on the USS Saratoga and participated in many Navy battles.

After the Navy, Ray moved to Spokane where he worked his entire life.

He delivered milk, owned his own garage, was a custodian, and delivered radio isotopes to hospitals.

During his last years he was a proud groundskeeper for his apartment complex.

Ray loved his friends and would do anything for them.

The family would like to thank Sullivan Park Assisted Living for the wonderful, friendly, loving care over the past year.

Ray called his little apartment “home” and the staff family.

Ray is survived by two sons and a daughter - Dr. Richard Semler, Donald Semler, and Nancy Dean - all of Spokane.

He was proceeded in death by a son, Keith Semler.

He is also survived by grandchildren Travis Semler, Wendy Hornstein, Brandon Dean, Tyler Dean, John Semler and many great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to any armed services support organization.

A private service will be held later this spring.
