Vanishing male workers

I’ve been amazed at the number of recent new hires in reporting and reading news and weather reports for Spokane’s network-affiliated TV stations, and also the huge preponderance of females among them. Every day I see a new female face on at least one of the Big Three.

I have not previously noted such a veritable deluge, and it seems clear to me that male TV news staffers are a vanishing breed.

Which reminds me, offhand I can think of a few occupations in which male workers may be in the majority, but none at the retail level of serving the public. Often I wonder what young men are doing to support themselves? Seriously.
