We deserve the deficit

In regards to the Jan. 15 article, “$50.5 billion Superstorm Sandy relief bill passed by House,” a large portion of the relief bill includes expenditures for government programs that have nothing to do with the Sandy storm relief.

A Republican-controlled House passed this bill. These Republicans are pledged to reduce spending, yet here they approve massive expenditures unrelated to the Sandy storm relief. They approved pushing spending cuts from Jan. 1 to March 1. On March 1, will they again kick the can down the road and not deal with the deficits?

So far, these Republicans have reneged on their principles and values. So, what is the difference between a Republican and a Democrat? Both massively increase spending, will not deal with the deficits and turn a blind eye to massive fraud within the Medicare and Medicaid programs.

The deficits are projected to increase by $4 trillion in the next four years. If our Congress cannot deal with the debt at $16 trillion, how will they be able to deal with it at $20 trillion? Worse yet, we voters re-elected 90 percent of these federal representatives. We get the government we deserve.
