Obituary: King, Rosalie J. (Uddenberg)

KING, Rosalie J.

(Uddenberg) (Age 83) Passed away on January 28, 2013 in Spokane, WA.

She is survived by her husband of 50 years, James W. King, Jr.; two sons, James W. King III (Jamie) and Steven M. King (Kay); sister, Lola Kooley; brother, Bert Uddenberg (Kathy); and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bertram and Ebba Uddenberg and three sisters, Jeanette, Patty and Shirley.

Rosalie was born in Gig Harbor, WA and graduated from high school there.

She then received nurses training at Tacoma General Hospital and went on to serve in the US Navy as a nurse from 1957 to 1962.

Upon coming to Spokane with her family she worked at St. Luke’s Hospital, eventually becoming the Director of Nursing.

She completed her Bachelor of Science Nursing Degree at Eastern Washington University and finished her nursing career at the Spokane V.A.

Hospital.

She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary for 37 years and served as Post Auxiliary President, District Auxiliary President, State Auxiliary President and VFW Ladies Auxiliary 14th Council Member of the National Council representing Washington, Idaho and Montana.

She also was the National Director of Hospital Services for the VFW Auxiliary.

She loved fishing and traveling with her husband, Jim.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2013 at 3:00 P.M. in the Alwin Chapel of Hazen & Jaeger Funeral Home, 1306 N. Monroe St., Spokane followed by a reception at VFW Post No.

1435, 212 S. David, Spokane Valley, WA.

Inurnment services with Military Honors will be held at the Washington State Veterans Cemetery in Medical Lake, WA at a later date.
