Parker leads Spurs to 9th straight win

NBA: Tony Parker had 22 points and the San Antonio Spurs never trailed in beating the visiting Charlotte Bobcats 102-78 on Wednesday night, extending their winning streak to nine games.

Former Washington State standout Aron Baynes came off the bench for nine rebounds and seven points in 18 minutes.

• Heat defeat Nets again: LeBron James had 24 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, and the Miami Heat blew out host Brooklyn in the second half for a 105-85 victory, their 13th in a row over the Nets.

Brook Lopez, named to his first All-Star team Wednesday, scored 21 points for the Nets, who had their eight-game home winning streak snapped.

• Griffin sparks Clippers: Blake Griffin had 26 points and 13 rebounds and DeAndre Jordan added 16 points and 12 boards to lift the Los Angeles Clippers to a 96-90 victory over the host Minnesota Timberwolves.

• Knicks’ Anthony stays hot: Carmelo Anthony scored 20 points to set a team record with his 30th straight 20-point game, leading the host New York Knicks to a 113-97 victory over the reeling Orlando Magic, who lost their seventh straight.

• Suns rally past Lakers: Michael Beasley scored a season-high 27 points and the Phoenix Suns rallied from 13 down in the fourth quarter to hand the Los Angeles Lakers their eighth straight road loss 92-86.

The dramatic comeback came in Steve Nash’s first game in Phoenix since he left for the Lakers after last season.

The Lakers lost Dwight Howard when he reinjured his right shoulder with 6:57 to play.

No. 1 Wolverines crush Northwestern

College men: Trey Burke had 18 points and eight assists, and No. 1 Michigan (20-1, 7-1 Big 10) was nearly flawless at the start en route to a 68-46 victory over Northwestern (12-10, 3-6) at Ann Arbor, Mich.

The Wolverines made 10 of their first 11 shots and went the entire first half without a turnover

• Gators win ninth straight: Kenny Boynton and Mike Rosario scored 15 points apiece and No. 4 Florida (17-2, 7-0 SEC) dominated South Carolina (12-8, 2-5) at Gainsville, Fla., for its ninth straight win.

• LSU upsets Missouri: Anthony Hickey scored 20 points, Andre Stringer added 18 and LSU (11-7, 2-5 SEC) defeated No. 17 Missouri (15-5, 4-3) 73-70 at Baton Rouge, La.

• Duke edges Wake Forest: Mason Plumlee scored a career-high 32 points and No. 5 Duke (18-2, 5-2 ACC) held off Wake Forest (10-10, 3-5) 75-70 at Winston-Salem, N.C.

Minnesota sends Chicago to first loss

NHL: Matt Cullen scored 90 seconds into the game and again in a shootout to lift the Minnesota Wild to a 3-2 victory over visiting Chicago, handing the Blackhawks their first loss in seven games this season.

• Oilers win in overtime: Nail Yakupov scored a power-play goal at 3:52 of overtime and the visiting Edmonton Oilers fought back after giving up a goal late in regulation to beat the Phoenix Coyotes 2-1.

The Oilers appeared to be on their way to helping Devan Dubnyk to his fifth career shutout, but were called for a penalty and the Coyotes pulled goalie Chad Johnson. Nick Johnson took advantage, whipping a shot past Dubnyk’s glove side with 19 seconds left in regulation.

• Luongo posts shutout: Roberto Luongo made 24 saves for his first win of the season and the host Vancouver Canucks beat the Colorado Avalanche 3-0.

Luongo, who has been on the trading block since Cory Schneider replaced him as Vancouver’s No. 1 goaltender, was rarely tested.

• Callahan injured: Rangers captain Ryan Callahan will be sidelined for 10 to 14 days after hurting his shoulder.

• McDonald suspended: The NHL suspended New York Islanders forward Colin McDonald for two games after a boarding incident involving Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Ben Lovejoy.

Griner scores 40 on record night

College women: Brittney Griner set the Big 12 women’s career scoring record, finishing with 40 points and 15 rebounds in top-ranked Baylor’s (19-1, 9-0) 9-60 victory over Texas Tech (16-5, 6-3) at Lubbock, Texas.

Griner passed Oklahoma State’s Andrea Riley for the record while scoring the first four points of the game, giving her 2,837 for her career. Riley had 2,835 points from 2007-2010.

Manchester United wins to extend lead

Soccer: Wayne Rooney scored twice to lead Manchester United over Southampton 2-1 at London, and open a seven-point lead over second-place Manchester City in the English Premier League.

• Real Madrid, Barcelona tie: Raphael Varane scored in the 81st minute, giving host Real Madrid a 1-1 tie against Barcelona in the first leg of their Copa del Rey semifinal.

• Togo advances: Togo advanced to the quarterfinals of the African Cup of Nations for the first time at the expense of Tunisia with a controversy-filled 1-1 tie.

Ivory Coast (2-0-1) won Group D with seven points following a 2-2 tie with already eliminated Algeria (0-2-1).
