Triple-digit temperatures forecast for Spokane area

SEATTLE — Triple-digit temperatures are forecast in Eastern Washington Monday and a record high temperature is forecast for Seattle as the heat wave peaks. The National Weather Service says cooler marine air will be moving into the state by the Fourth of July. The Weather Service forecasts highs in the 90s Monday in Western Washington. The record at Sea-Tac Airport for July 1 is 87 degrees, which was tied in 1995. The high Sunday at Sea-Tac was 93. Predicted high temperatures in the Spokane area are 101 on Monday, 102 on Tuesday and 97 on Wednesday. The temperatures are predicted to drop into the high 80s by Friday. In Coeur d’Alene, the temperatures for Monday through Wednesday are predicted to be 99, 97 and 94. The Weather Service has issued an excessive heat warning for the Seattle metro area and a heat advisory for southwest Washington until 11 p.m. Monday.
