Obituary: Wiley, Martha

WILEY, Martha Martha Wiley was born in Union City, Indiana April 27, 1916 and died in Edmonds, Washington June 29, 2013.

She lived in Spokane Valley from 1949 to 1989.

She is survived by her children Hannah Wiley and Steve Wiley of Seattle and John Wiley and his wife Karen Snell of Cheney.

She is also survived by her good friend Phillip Tutt.

Martha was married 50 years to long-time Spokane dentist Owen Wiley (1912 - 1989).

Martha moved from Spokane to Edmonds after Owen’s death in 1989.

Martha was a tireless lifetime learner.

She received a Master’s degree in guidance and counseling from Gonzaga University in 1969.

She continued to take college courses at Edmonds Community College as long as she was physically able.

Martha was also active in politics and was a delegate to the 1960 Democratic National Convention in Los Angeles.
