Perry seeks control

In the June 27 Spokesman-Review, I read Republican Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s statement: “Texans value life and want to protect women. …” The day before Perry had executed a woman.

Unfortunately for Perry, he encountered one tough Texas woman in the Texas Legislature who doesn’t need his type of protection. Her name is Wendy Davis and she filibustered for 13 hours to protect women’s rights to own their bodies. So unnerved was the governor that he felt the need the next day to publicly patronize and insult her.

Good old boy Rick must have meant control rather than protect.
