Obituary: Carter, Mary Margaret

Age 93

CARTER, Mary Margaret Mary Margaret Carter passed away peacefully in Edmonds, WA, June 29, 2013.

She was 93.

“MM” was born in Marion, Kansas February 22, 1920.

At an early age she moved to Spokane, where she lived until 2008.

She was primarily a stay-at-home Mom while raising her children, although she held a part time job at Sears in the credit department.

Later, she was proud to work at Dodson’s Jewelry in downtown Spokane for many years.

And she enjoyed years of travel, competition, and friendship as a member of the Spokane chorus of Sweet Adelines.

She and her late husband of 64 years, Glenn, enjoyed many years of travel and recreation in their retirement.

Mary Margaret was a long-time member of Knox Presbyterian Church.

She was a woman of strong principles and character who was especially happy in her final years being closer to family, and her “family” of friends at Edmonds Landing.

MM’s values and lessons, many born of the “Greatest Generation,” live on in her survivors, sons Ron (Louise) of Kingston, WA, Doug (Sherri) of McMinnville, OR, and Rick (Evelyn) of Edmonds, her grandchildren - Jenifer Carter, Camille (Justin) Heinen, Ashley Carter, Alison Carter, Todd Carter, and Lindsay Carter - and her great-grandchildren - Elise and Claire Heinen - all of whom reside in the Seattle area.

Mary Margaret’s life will be celebrated Saturday, August 3, 2013, 2 p.m., at Ball and Dodd Chapel, 5100 W. Wellesley Avenue, Spokane.
