The latest Johnny Depp offering, “The Lone Ranger,” made its debut this week, so we asked readers what they would pick as Depp’s best role. The responses offer a trip through Depp’s 30-year film career:

I’ve never seen a Johnny Depp movie I didn’t like, but I love Jack Sparrow. He’s hilarious.
Edward Scissorhands. He made the character brilliantly fragile and beautiful in his honesty. He was who he was, and it wasn’t him that had trouble accepting that. It was everyone else.
Pirates. But I love Benny & Joon too!
I have to say, it’s a hard choice, but he rocked the Mad Hatter, methinks!
Ed Wood
Secret Window
Donnie Brasco!
He was fun to watch in 21 Jump Street … but fell in love with him in Benny & Joon
Nightmare on Elm Street was my first horror movie & Depp’s death will forever be in my nightmares. But I really love Nick of Time, which adds another favorite weirdo, Christopher Walken. Depp is just a sexier looking weirdo.
Don Juan Demarco and Edward Scissorhands! Oh and anything else he has been in….
Too hard to choose!!! Loved Ed Wood, Edward Scissorhands and Donnie Brasco too-but also Sleep Hollow and Sweeney Todd!
From Huckleberries Online blog:
Randy Myers
Captain Jack Sparrow. He makes over the top fun yet still keeps his character’s dramatic side relevant
powderfarmer
Hunter S. Thompson: Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas
Arch Druid
Barnabas Collins, “Dark Shadows.”
