Motorcyclists injured in crash south of Spirit Lake

Staff report
A Post Falls motorcyclist and his passenger were injured Saturday afternoon in a crash on Idaho state Highway 41 south of Spirit Lake. Shortly before 1 p.m., Edward J. Yankey, 62, and passenger Robin L. Yankey, 60, were riding a Harley Davidson motorcycle northbound on Highway 41, according to the Idaho State Police. Traffic slowed ahead of them as a car waited to turn left from that lane into a driveway. The motorcycle rear-ended a Buick Lacrosse driven by 79-year-old Burton H. Austin, of Spirit Lake, ISP said. The Yankeys were taken to Kootenai Medical Center, the ISP said. Austin was not injured. The ISP said Edward Yankey was not wearing a helmet but did not say whether his passenger was wearing one.
