Stolen oven leaves trail

Associated Press

KENNEWICK – Police in Kennewick said it didn’t take them long to solve the theft of an oven from an abandoned apartment. The scratch marks on the pavement and the trail in the mud were a big help.

A neighbor also caught some of the action on a security camera, NBC affiliate KNDU-TV reported.

Police Crime Specialist Mike Blatman said sometimes people leave their ID at a crime scene, but in this case police just followed the trail to a suspect in Thursday’s theft.

Blatman said 24-year-old Noel Gallegos was arrested. Gallegos was booked initially on an existing warrant out of California.
