Obituary: Castleberry, Robbie

CASTLEBERRY, Robbi September 4, 1932 - June 10, 2013 The life of Robbi Castleberry, whose passion for conservation and recreation enriched the Inland Northwest, will be celebrated on July 11 in Spokane.

The event will begin at 5 p.m. in the Commons at the Mukagowa Fort Wright Institute, 4000 W. Randolph Road.

Guests are encouraged to bring stories and photos of Robbi.

Survivors include her husband, Vic Castleberry; brothers Robert Gandini, Pete Gandini of Lopez Island, Wash.; sister, Mary Hovander of Edmonds, Wash.; and children Vicki Castleberry Signer and Leslie Castleberry of Spokane, and Jeff Castleberry of Underwood, Wash; grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

One son, Greg Castleberry, preceded her in death.

Irene was the daughter of Luigi and Josephine Gandini.

She later changed her name to Robbi.

Robbi completed high school at MaryCliff, was a graduate of Holy Names Academy, and attended a master’s program at Marquette University.

She married Victor Castleberry in 1968.

Following a career as a medical lab technician, she devoted her energies to conservation in the Inland Northwest.
