Drowned teen was student at All Saints School

Spokane teenager Mitchell Raymond drowned Saturday in a swimming accident at Blue Lake south of Coeur d’Alene. Divers removed his body today. Raymond, 14, was a student at All Saints Catholic School in Spokane. “May God give His comfort to Mitchell’s family and our community,” Principal Kathy Hicks posted today on the school’s Facebook page. Raymond’s body was located in 15 feet of water, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said. Divers found it after 4 p.m. after searching the lake more than seven hours today and two hours Saturday evening. Raymond was swimming with three other juveniles near a boat and became separated from them. His father, siblings and friends searched for the missing swimmer, and another boater called 911 around 6 p.m. Saturday. The county’s dive rescue team and other emergency crews were sent to the remote lake, which is part of the chain lakes around the Coeur d’Alene River. An autopsy will be performed to confirm the cause of death.
