Obituary: Hildahl, Astrid

Age 95

HILDAHL, Astrid Died July 7th, 2013 at the age of 95.

Astrid Hildahl (Larson) was born February 22, 1918 in Wolfpoint, Montana to Norwegian immigrants, Lars and Astrid Larson.

Astrid died in childbirth and young Astrid was adopted by Lars and Kjersti Larson, another Norwegian couple.

Astrid always celebrated her Norwegian heritage.

Astrid attended schools in Spokane and attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota for two years and the U of W for one year.

She then interned at Columbus Hospital in Great Falls, Montana in Medical Technology.

Astrid married Norman Earl Hildahl in November of 1939.

They were blessed with five children in the next seven years.

Roger, Richard, twins Bruce and Brian, and daughter Kristi.

Earl passed away in 1995.

Their legacy lives on with 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren with #19 due in October.

Earl and Astrid were active members in the Lutheran Church wherever they lived.

They took part in developing and working in the Scandinavian Culture Center at Pacific Lutheran University.

Astrid has resided at Orchard Crest, Spokane Valley since 2005.

She is survived by her five children and their spouses.

Roger and Joanne Hildahl, Richard and Connie Hildahl, Bruce and Linda Hildahl, Brian and Margaret Hildahl, and Kristi and Jim Widsteen, as well as her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service was held at Peace Lutheran Church in Otis Orchards.

In lieu of flowers memorial gifts may be sent to the N. Earl and Astrid Hildahl PLU Scholarship Fund, 12180 Park Avenue, Tacoma, WA 98447.
