Obituary: White, Evelyn Lorraine (Simpson)

Age 90

WHITE, Evelyn Lorraine (Simpson) August 29, 1922 - July 8, 2013 Sister White went to be with her Savior and Lord on July 8, 2013, in the presence of her family and dear friends.

She was born August 29, 1922, to Louis and Carrie Simpson, and was the first baby girl born in the “new” Puyallup Hospital.

Her early years were spent in Buckley, Washington, and Orofino, Idaho.

The family settled in Lewiston, Idaho when she was still in elementary school and lived in a home on the Clearwater River.

In 1942, she married a young, exuberant Pentecostal evangelist and they moved to pastor in California.

They pastored over 50 years together, beginning in Taft and Galt California, Bellingham, Wenatchee and Spokane, Washington and lastly in Lewiston, Idaho.

Evelyn was a valuable helpmate to Pastor White’s ministry - walking hand in hand as a prayer supporter, hostess and confidant.

He preceded her in death in December of 1992.

She was also preceded in death by her older sister, Laverne, older brother, Jack, and younger brother Don.

She is survived by her daughter, Naomi (Gene) Horlacher, Spokane; her son, Steve (Pam) White of Nampa, Idaho; her much beloved grandchildren, Autumn (Marty) Short, Nick (Alicia) Lasko, Nathan (Bethany) Lasko and great-grandchildren, Kaiden and Lexie Short, Rob, Rebecca and LilyAnn Lasko, and five nieces and nephews.

Service will be held at Valley Assembly of God Church on Sunday, July 14, at 2:30 pm.
