Humphrey owns 1-shot lead at Lilac’s midway point

Jason Humphrey shot a 6-under-par 66 Friday, the lowest round of the day at The Fairways, to take a one-stroke lead midway through the 50th Lilac City Invitational.

Humphrey, of Coos Bay, Ore., shot 68 Thursday and has a 36-hole total of 134. Avondale assistant pro Russell Grove followed up Thursday’s 67 with a 68 and sits one shot behind Humphrey, who finished third at the Lilac last year.

Shane Prante of Olympia is in third at 136 after shooting 69. Humphrey, Grove and Prante tee off today at 12:20 p.m.

Defending champion Hank Frame (67), 2006 champ Colby Myers (67) and Manito assistant Corey Prugh (68) are at 138, four shots behind Humphrey. Wenatchee’s Kevin PomArleau (72-68) is at 140 and Cheney’s Todd Pence (69-72) is at 141.
