The 15th annual 8 Lakes Leg Aches Bike Ride – Aug. 3, participants can choose a 15-mile, 30-mile, 45-mile or 75-mile ride touring scenic landscapes between Spokane, Medical Lake and Cheney. Obon Celebration – Aug. 17-18 the Spokane Buddhist Temple will revive its annual Obon Festival in observance of the major Buddhist holiday honoring past ancestors by hosting a celebration at the temple, 927 S. Event includes traditional meals, games for kids of all ages, exhibits including sumi-e, ikebana, bonsai and Spokane Kendo, demonstrations in the gym, performances by Spokane Taiko (Japanese drumming) and Narong (a Japanese singer) and the bon odori or bon dancing to be held on the green.
