Obituary: Tomson, Marilyn E.

Age 86

TOMSON, Marilyn E. (Age 86) Marilyn Elvira Tomson, born in Spokane on October 16, 1926 to Axel and Estella Berggren, passed away on July 4, 2013.

Marilyn attended school at Holmes Elementary, Havermale Junior High, and North Central High School.

She enjoyed playing the clarinet in the All City Grade School Band and the North Central High School Orchestra.

Following high school Marilyn attended St. Luke’s School of Nursing, graduating in 1946.

She worked as an RN in Labor and Delivery at the original St. Luke’s Hospital and in OR at the new St. Luke’s Hospital.

Marilyn lived in Spokane her entire life, marrying Lawrence (Larry) Tomson in 1948.

Together they raised four children in a home filled with love and laughter.

Wonderful vacations were spent camping, hiking and enjoying the northwest with family and friends.

Marilyn’s favorite activities included road trips and sightseeing, flowers and gardening, sewing and cooking, music and Spokane Symphony concerts.

She had good times with her many friends at the Sons of Norway, VASA, and PEO.

Marilyn and Larry took many trips together around the world.

She especially loved visiting her cousins in Sweden.

Her love of all things Scandinavian was passed on with great joy to her children and grandchildren.

Marilyn will be lovingly remembered for her wonderful kindness, caring, and delight in sharing of family traditions and celebrations.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her husband Larry in 1993.

She is survived by her children Lorrie (Steve) McNutt, Janice (Jerry) Bock, Randal (Leanne) Tomson, and Jeffry (Linda) Tomson, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
