Post Falls mayor to retire at end of term
Clay Larkin has been mayor for 12 1/2 years
Post Falls Mayor Clay Larkin announced Monday that he will not seek re-election and will retire at the end of his current term.
Larkin has been mayor for 12 1/2 years. Before that, he served five years on the City Council.
“When I retire in January, I will have held a city office for 18 years,” he said. “I feel good about stepping down and letting someone else lead our city.”
Larkin said Post Falls is doing well and is solidly led by City Administrator Shelly Enderud and the dedication of city staff.
He said he wanted to announce his decision early enough to give other potential candidates time to consider a run for office.
Larkin was first appointed mayor in January 2001. He was elected to the office in November of that year and took office in January 2002.
