Third suspect arrested in Moses Lake stabbing

A Moses Lake teenager was arrested Sunday night in connection with a stabbing that occurred Tuesday at the Larson Housing area north of town. The 17-year-old is the third suspect taken into custody in the incident. He is the final person sought in the stabbing by the Grant County Sheriff’s Office. The attack left a 16-year-old boy at Samaritan Hospital with a lacerated kidney. He was listed in stable condition last week. According to spokesman Kyle Foreman with the sheriff’s department, the altercation started when a 19-year-old driving a car spotted three teens walking near the housing authority late on Tuesday night. Foreman said the 19-year-old thought one of the teens was involved in a series of break-ins. He and the 16-year-old, a passenger, confronted the three and knives were drawn. The victim was stabbed multiple times. Two other suspects, a 14-year-old and a 16-year-old, were arrested last week shortly after the incident. Foreman credited public tips and a vigorous social media campaign with apprehending the final suspect, who contacted the sheriff’s department via Facebook questioning why he was being sought. The sheriff’s department asked him to call and clarify his involvement. Foreman said the 17-year-old did not respond, and he was arrested at a Moses Lake house Sunday night.
