Obituary: Crumb, Susan E.

CRUMB, Susan E. Was born on April 12, 1949 in Seattle, WA.

In 1967, she graduated from Shorecrest High School.

She attended Western Washington University and then the University of Washington where she met her husband.

In August 1972 she married Steve Crumb and moved to Spokane, WA where together they built a life and raised two children.

Susan was devoted to her family and friends.

She was selfless and always there for others.

She constantly looked for the best in people and believed everyone deserved a chance in life.

After having several serious bouts with mental illness herself, she became a great support to others dealing with similar issues.

Susan was a lot of fun and always lived life to the fullest with her family by her side.

Whether it was traveling, attending football games or trying a new happy hour, they never slowed down.

In the winter months, you could find them snow-skiing at Schweitzer Mountain Resort, ID and in the summer many weekends were spent at Spirit Lake, ID.

Susan also had quite a green thumb.

In the spring and summer, you would likely find her in her garden where she also tried to keep the birds in the neighborhood well-fed.

The last few years she battled ALS with enormous courage and grace and kept her positive attitude until the end.

Susan and her family deeply appreciated the overwhelming outpouring of support during this period.

And on behalf of Susan, the family would like to thank everyone for their love, support and prayers.

Susan is survived by her husband, Steve; daughter, Sara Crumb; son, Michael Crumb and his wife, Angie; and countless friends and relatives.

A memorial website has been set up for her at http://susan-crumb.memory-of.com.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The ALS Association Evergreen Chapter at http://webwa.alsa.org.
