Obituary: Foiles, Steven Mansel

Age 49

FOILES, Steven Mansel (Age 49) Of Moscow, ID lost his battle with gallbladder cancer on July 15, 2013 in Spokane WA.

He was the perfect model of a husband, father, grand-father, brother and son.

He was born the youngest of six in Boise ID, September 28, 1963.

He moved with his family to Moscow in 1967.

He graduated from Moscow High in 1981 where he enjoyed playing varsity tennis.

He received a BS degree from U of Idaho in 1986 in computer science.

He met his wife Dawn Petersen while working at Drug Fair in Moscow and they were married on December 22, 1984.

They have two children, Chris and Lisa.

Steve and Dawn lived in Portland, Phoenix, and Spokane, WA.

Seven years were lived in southern California to help Lisa pursue her career as a young actor.

They returned to Moscow in 2006 to build a family home on the Petersen farm.

Steve was an avid gardener, computer expert and big sports fan.

He followed the Mariners, Vandals and Minnesota Vikings wherever he lived.

He will be missed by his large, loving family immensely.

His loving and giving nature endeared him to everyone who met him.

The Moscow tennis team benefitted from his coaching and mentoring for four years.

He is survived by his wife, Dawn; son Chris; daughter Lisa; mother Carma; brothers Randy, Les, Stan; sister Anne; grandchildren Drake and Kali.

He was preceded in death by his sister, Janice and father, Marvin.

Shorts Chapel, located at 1225 E 6th St., Moscow, ID, is open for viewing from 1 to 4pm on Friday, July 19.

The celebration of Steve’s life will take place Saturday, July 20 at the Kibbie Dome’s Litehouse Center, 875 Perimeter Dr, Moscow.

Appropriately, “Kickoff time” is at 2:05 pm.

Wear your Vandal attire or anything black and gold.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Steve Foiles donation fund at any Sterling Bank branch.

A memorial fund will be set up at a later date.
