Perry St. As part of the South Perry Street Fair event includes sale of furniture, household items, music, artwork and senbei (Japanese crackers). God’s Backyard Bible Camp – Under the Stars – For kids in kindergarten through sixth grade, Sunday through July 25 from 5:30-8:15 p.m. at North Hill Christian Church, 4620 N. Post St. Each night will begin with a family meal and adult classes are also offered nightly from 6:20-7:20 p.m. at the church. Central Baptist Church, Fowler United Methodist and Messiah Lutheran will collaborate to co-sponsor this free event. One With the Earth Adventures in Peacemaking Day Camp – For ages 5-12, Monday-Thursday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. at Unity Center of North Spokane, 4123 E. Lincoln Road. The 15th Annual 8 Lakes Leg Aches Bike Ride – In the Aug. 3 event, participants can choose either a 15-mile, 30-mile, 45-mile or 75-mile ride touring scenic landscapes between Spokane, Medical Lake and Cheney. Enjoy coffee at the starting line at the Group Health office on Sunset Hill, nibble cookies at stops along the way and end the ride with food, entertainment and ice cream. Co-sponsored by Group Health and Lutheran Community Services Northwest. Obon Celebration – Aug. 17-18. The Spokane Buddhist Temple will revive its annual Obon Festival in celebration of the major Buddhist holiday honoring ancestors at the temple, 927 S. Perry St. Event includes traditional meals, games for kids of all ages, exhibits including sumi- e, ikebana, bonsai and Spokane kendo, demonstrations in the gym, performances by Spokane Taiko (Japanese drumming) and Narong (a Japanese singer) and the Bon Odori (dancing) to be held on the green. 509) 534-7954.
