From staff reports
Multiple law enforcement agencies are combing farmlands near Quincy in Central Washington searching for a suspect they say shot a man multiple times in the stomach. Arnoldo Cazares Mendoza, 20, fled a blueberry orchard in a pickup truck after a shooting that occurred around 7:30 this morning, Grant County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kyle Foreman said. Mendoza’s relationship to the victim is unknown. Multiple field workers witnessed the shooting, Foreman said. The victim was alive at the scene and has been flown to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. His condition was not available. Police found the truck Mendoza was driving at an orchard about a mile and a half from the shooting, Foreman said. That orchard was locked down and aircraft as well as dogs were used in an attempt to locate Mendoza. “We have a lot of resources on this call,” Foreman said. Mendoza is still on the loose and considered armed and dangerous. Authorities have released a photo of Mendoza. Anyone who knows his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
