SPOKANE VALLEY – Motorcycle and scooter riders are invited to Ride ’Em Wednesday events at Empire Cycle and Powersports, 7807 E. Sprague Ave. The event will offer food, games and live music from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays through Aug. 28. The band Hung Phat will play rock music from the ’70s, ’80s and ’90s, and the food will be provided by Fredneck’s Bar and Grill and Nordic BBQ. Call (509) 892-6368 for more information.

Free ‘Brave’ showing at Mirabeau Meadows

SPOKANE VALLEY – The city of Spokane Valley will host a free outdoor viewing of the animated Disney Pixar movie “Brave” at 9 p.m. Friday at Mirabeau Meadows Park, 13500 Mirabeau Parkway. The family-friendly movie follows the adventures of a Scottish princess. There also will be free activities in the park beginning at 8 p.m. People are invited to bring picnics and blankets.

Join Humane Society at 116th birthday bash

SPOKANE VALLEY – The Spokane Humane Society will celebrate its 116th birthday with a celebration today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 6607 N. Havana St. Owners are invited to bring pets adopted from the shelter. Cake and ice cream will be served at 2 p.m. Those attending the event can tour the shelter and the new spay-and-neuter clinic. A memorial will honor pets that have died.

Fire Auxiliary fundraising success

NEWMAN LAKE – The Newman Lake Fire Auxiliary netted nearly $2,000 during its annual hot dog and T-shirt sale on July 6. Proceeds benefit Newman Lake Fire and Rescue. Firefighters also collected $300 in a “fill the boot” campaign to be sent to the West Texas Disaster Relief Fund.

Fairfield holding yard sales event

FAIRFIELD – The town of Fairfield will host its communitywide yard sale today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. A map of participating locations will be available in the post office at 220 E. Main St.

Self Storage marking grand re-opening

SPOKANE VALLEY – Self Storage of Spokane will host a garage sale event to celebrate its grand re-opening from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. next Saturday at 214. S. Eastern Road. Hot dogs and refreshments will be available during the day.
